Of six micro-habitats, the area along the creek and dense tall grasses are important habitats for grassland specialists. The analyses indicated the landscape to have a significant effect on species richness. Extending protection to reed, scrub and swamp forest habitats in all haors, especially Pashua Haor, which remains completely unprotected, is an urgent priority. Only Baikka Beel and Tanguar Haor receive a measure of formal protection. These findings underscore the conservation importance of these major wetlands, all of which remain threatened by human exploitation.
